    Course Outline:To promote the use of rubber dam as daily dental clinical protocol and to demystify the principles and some of the more challenging techniques for creating functional, predictable and aesthetic direct composite restorations both anteriorly and posteriorly.

    • Learn the different type of rubber dam isolation and to perform effective rubber dam placement.
    • Learn and perform fast and predictable techniques for direct posterior composite restorations.
    • Learn and perform full process of direct anterior composite restoration including composite veneer

    Instructor Profile
    After graduating from AIMST UNIVERSITY, Dr. Melvin Sia served in the government sector for 3 years & worked as an associate at a private practice for a year before establishing his own practice. Dr. Melvin’s passion lies in aesthetic dentistry, whether it is direct or indirect restorations; full mouth rehab or smile makeovers. A perfectionist at heart with a keen eye for detail, he has attended many aesthetic courses to expand his knowledge and hone his skills to provide the best level of care and meet the aesthetic needs of his patients. He has particular interest in restoring patients’ dental aesthetics by mimicking nature. Dr Melvin believes in respecting nature and the natural tooth structure. An advocate of the MiCD philosophy, he endeavors to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible while achieving the highest level of aesthetics by adopting the “Less is more” treatment strategy.

    Insights into the clinical applications of Hybrid-Ceramic restoration with tips and tricks to achieving individualized restorations that meet the aesthetic demands of the customers. The participants will have the opportunity to adjust the incisal edge with Ceramage indirect composite and  play with colours using LiteArt stains to create highly aesthetic customizations that match perfectly with natural dentition.

    • Understand the principles of hybrid ceramic and how it differs from other metal-free restorations
    • Learn about the different techniques in staining to achieve desired effects and shades
    • Predictable finishing and polishing steps to achieve long lasting lustre

    Instructor Profile
    Ng Cher Wei (Jovi) is a Certified Dental Technician who graduated from the Miyazaki Dental Technician’s School. He specialized as a dental ceramist at the Waseda Institute of Dental Technology in Japan. Mr. Ng has been with Shofu Dental Asia-Pacific for almost 3 decades as the Chief Technical Instructor and has travelled extensively throughout the Asia-Pacific region conducting courses and workshops in the field of dental technology. He has been contributing articles regularly to regional dental publications on how to efficiently achieve excellent aesthetics with various indirect materials. Jovi is a member of the Japan Dental Technician’s Association and the Malaysian Dental Technologists Association. An avid diver, Jovi appreciates the beauty in nature and applies the same passion into dental ceramics by creating life-like, vital restorations that are unique to each patient.

    An introduction to the clinical applications and aesthetic capabilities of indirect composite for restoration of missing gum in Implant supported or denture prosthesis with Zirconia reinforced Ceramage Gum. The participants will have the opportunity to experience the blending of gum colours complimented by the LiteArt stains with tips and tricks to help re-create natural gingival aesthetics to achieve the pink and white balance that mimic nature.

    Key Learning Points:
    • Learn about the importance of the bonding between different materials; eg: Titanium, PMMA, Zirconia, Acrylic Resin, etc. with lab composites.
    • Better understanding the different levels of opacity in gum colours and how to control the thickness during build-up to mimic natural gingival aesthetics
    • Step-by-step guide to achieving successful blend of pinks and surface contouring of lab composites to replicate the natural gum surface texture
