Direct Composite Injection Molding Technique (IMT):

Integrating Digital Workflow and Analog Clear Indices for Minimally Invasive Aesthetic Restorations

Venue: Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

Time: 10am-4pm

Date: 29 September 2026

Synopsis

The Injection Molding Technique (IMT) using clear indices has emerged as an effective approach for achieving minimally invasive, functional, and aesthetic composite restorations. This lecture presents the fundamental principles and clinical applications of IMT, with particular emphasis on integrating digital workflows and analog clear indices to improve precision and predictability in both anterior and posterior cases.

By combining digital planning with chairside or laboratory-fabricated indices, clinicians can enhance morphology transfer, optimize material placement, and preserve tooth structure. The lecture also discusses the role of injectable composite materials and universal adhesive strategies in achieving reliable bonding and marginal adaptation.

Clinical protocols ranging from simplified injection techniques to layered approaches for reproducing natural tooth anatomy are introduced, supported by evidence-based insights into replicability and accuracy. Representative clinical cases demonstrate long-term stability and aesthetic outcomes.

The lecture will be accompanied with a live demonstration on Injection Molding Technique (IMT) for the restoration of anterior smile aesthetics.

Learning Objectives

– Understand the principles of IMT and its integration with digital workflows and analog clear indices.

– Learn material selection and adhesive strategies for predictable bonding and long-term durability.

– Apply simplified IMT protocols in daily clinical practice for minimally invasive restorations.

Instructor Profile

Professor Keiichi Hosaka is a leading authority in restorative dentistry, specializing in adhesive technology, direct composite restorations, and digital clinical workflows. He earned his DDS in 2003 and Ph.D. in 2007 from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), where he studied under the mentorship of Prof. Junji Tagami. His international academic career began in 2005 as a visiting scholar at the Medical College of Georgia in Dr. David Pashley’s laboratory. Following this, he was appointed Assistant Professor at TMDU in 2008.
In 2021, he was appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Conservative Dentistry at Tokushima University and Director of the Department of Conservative Dentistry at Tokushima University Hospital. His global research footprint includes serving as a Visiting Professor at the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at MIT in 2023 and as a Visiting Investigator at the ADA Forsyth Institute (Dr. Jirun Sun’s Lab) in 2024. In 2025, he further expanded his international influence as a Visiting Professor at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
In addition to his academic roles, Professor Hosaka is a co-founder and the Chief Dental Officer (CDO) of Amidex Inc., a Tokushima University-launched startup dedicated to commercializing innovative dental solutions. His research focuses on “Advanced MI (Minimally Invasive) Dentistry” through the integration of adhesive dentistry, post-LED photonics, and AI-driven digital restorative workflows, such as the “Clear Index Technique,” to optimize aesthetic and functional clinical outcomes.
