Synopsis:

Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) restorations have a long track record and are still routinely prescribed due to  their reliability, longevity and cost benefits to the patient. Dental technicians require the skills, know-how and predictable fabrication protocol to make their metal-ceramic workflow seamless, with greater efficiency and productivity while minimizing error to ensure profitability in an increasingly competitive PFM market. It is equally important for dental ceramists to be able to simulate natural aesthetics and fulfil functional needs with PFM restorations, to increase patient acceptance and gain clinician confidence.

The speaker will share the fundamentals of metal-ceramics as well as practical insights to fabricating life-like PFM crown and bridge restorations, by applying simple to complex build-up techniques and effectively managing space during porcelain layering, to mask the underlying frame and match the shade of natural teeth. Metal-ceramic porcelain system such as Vintage Pro features micro-fine particle structure with a stable formulation that imparts natural optical characteristics, firing stability, excellent handling, higher fracture resistance and long-term functional durability, for consistent and reliable outcomes, making it a go-to-material for beginners as well as experienced dental ceramists.

This interesting lecture with live demonstration will enable participants to understand how they can adopt a smarter, more efficient roadmap to achieving consistent results when fabricating PFM restorations, by following predictable steps from precise metal frame design to step-by-step layering, and 2D/3D art staining to final anatomical contouring to seamlessly match natural shade aesthetics and maintain a robust porcelain architecture.

Learning Objectives:

  • Essence of metal-ceramic restorations- from framework to layering
  • Importance of Color, Translucency & Opalescence
  • Predictable layering techniques in simple to complex cases
  • The art of staining for life-like effects and shade nuances
  • Importance of surface texture on final aesthetic outcome
